If you are making six figures you probably don’t want to live in 75% of San Diego that you can afford since something in your past made you not share the same values as boys from the hood, Vista Home Boys being my favorite bunch (One of my employees used to date one of the gang officers who would come to pick her up at least once a week. Really nice guy).
Also, if you are single-income family you are one layoff away from being no-income family. Good luck trying to replace your 6-figure income in today’s environment.

Ha ha I hear you. We’ve been visiting Home Depot / Lowes once, sometimes twice a day since we closed escrow. I’ve somewhat foolishly started a construction project (converting an archway between the living room and the dining room into an interior partition wall). It’s harder and longer than I expected. In the mean time, my wife repainted three out of four bedrooms.
Does anyone know a good contractor to install a gate?
I wish I knew! It’s a daunting task. Taking on debt and getting the keys was easy…getting the place to sparkle and have that personal touch seems so out of reach. I tallied up everything I need to take care of now and I’ve come to the conclusion that I will single handedly rescue the economy once the house is done. I now see how tempting it was during the bubble years to tap the good old HELOC. “Free” money, infinite projects to do, houses always go UP UP UP! No brainer.

Congrats on your new home. Did Redfin delivered as you expected??? How were you able to see homes with Redfin? To me, that is still a puzzle. And the most important thing, how was your rebates, as promised ? How is it better than the few local agents who carries similar rebates ? Thanks.
I actually worked with a close family friend – I just did the legwork finding the place with Redfin. I was actually out viewing houses when I got my daily redfin alert on my phone and was able to get to the place I purchased as soon as it was listed. If it wasn’t for the redfin alert there is a good chance I would have been too late.
