ParticipantI have worked in health care for 26 years. In those 26 years, I have not met a single person that has rejected socialized medicine for those over age 65. Not one. Not a single one has ever made a political statement by rejecting medicare. Not a one. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
I’ve seen plenty that choose dual coverage (medicare and private insurance). But guess which card is ALWAYS presented first? That’s right, the medicare card.
Its extremely popular. Even the old tea baggers love it. They can talk about the repeal of medicare taxes all they want. But you will NEVER see them reject it out of higher conscious, moral beliefs, patriotic duty, etc., etc, etc. Its all a bunch of hot wind, and nothing more.

ParticipantTheir first plank is rather peculiar, IMO. It would result in paying increased income taxes. That surprises me that a tea bagger would advocate for that. I agree that it would help keep a damper on housing prices though, especially the mansions that wealthier folks use to shield income tax.
