The company is supposedly going to be split in two. So the current MOT in SD isn’t going to be the same as the new MOT.From my observations, dev will be split among dev in china, dev in bangalore, and a smaller dev somewhere in u.s. Around the clock development anyone? Also, my buddies have informed me that “right sizing” has been ongoing…Ok that’s all folks. I need to talk to bangalore now (seriously)… Good night.[/quote]
MOT in SD comprise of both settop box division that they’ll spin off and the mobile devices that will stay as the new MOT. Mobile devices is a small portion of total MOT in SD. GSM products was/is being run out of Libertyville. SD was/is responsible for their CDMA products (VZW and Sprint). My guess is, they’re going to combine both into 1 and have it all here in SD (or at least a good portion of it). They had devs in China, Korea, and India for a very long time now, so nothing is new. But the product team was/is still local for the US market (of course, for products being sold in other countries, they have product teams for those local markets too). They’ve been doing around the clock development for many years, it wasn’t fun but that’s the life.BTW, MOT has been right sizing for the last 3 years. Nothing new hear. I don’t know how many new hire they’ll be looking for, but I’m sure not 100% of the people in Libertyville will want to move to SD. So they will have to fill those spots.

October 20, 2010 at 8:46 AM #620426UCGalParticipantJha lives in Scripps Ranch and is rumored to be building in RSF… He’s got to be tired of commuting on the company jet to Chicago. He never moved his family. I don’t see the Mot Mobility corp hq anywhere but San Diego. We’ll know soon enough… isn’t the split supposed to happen in Q1 2011?
