Egging the front door??!! Now that’s bad! Most kids in Stoney Creek are young ones (under 10) and are closely watched by their parents. Other than chasing my dog (just being playful) and sometimes parking their tricycle just outside of my driveway, I haven’t had any problems with them. Having video surveillance would help. I did use part of the credit to install wiring for V.S. but not the actual equipment yet. Just that catching naughty kids vandalizing my property was not one of my intentions.
As for the bone-headed act of our draper guy (drilling into my drainage pipe), yes, he’s fully responsible. Our drywall has not bee patched yet, pending a moisture/mold investigation by another company. But when it’s all over, we’ll deduct these expenses from his invoice.
To take 52 to the I-15, I’d recommend Cuyamaca to Town Center Pkwy to Mission Gorge. It’s faster than taking Mast. Mast has more stop lights, more traffic in the morning and a slow zone when driving past that high school. I made comparison and found that it taking Mission Gorge would get me to the I-15 in about 10-12 minutes, while taking Mast was about 15-17 minutes. Going home would be the same for either route, as Mission Gorge will have heavier traffic. I have taken 67 to Poway as a leisure drive on weekend but not sure what it would be like during rush hours.
Right now I’m less concerned about the quality of Rio Seco, as we have no kids. But it’s good to know that it’s so close and that a new building is being constructed. I see parents from Riverwalk just walking their kids to school and that’s great! When we do have kids reaching school age, my wife and I should be able to adjust our work hours so that one can walk them to school in the morning and one can pick them up in the afternoon.
Our cable guy has lived in Santee for over 25 years and he says it’s a very safe town. He says during the day they never lock the doors and never had any problem. He also said that Santee is cooler than San Marcos. It’s hot in the summer but there’s always a breeze blowing, making it much more comfortable. We’ll see about that.

April 1, 2009 at 4:04 PM #375323SD RealtorParticipantReally good posting PKMAN. Santee gets alot of bad press mostly by people who do not live there. It is nice to get factual information. Right now I am doing a low end search for someone and out of about 20 properties he sent me 18 of them have offers on them, they are all short sales. We will see how many of them close because buyers flake out alot.

That is great news that you have shared. My wife and I appreciate it. I talked to one of my new neighbors, and she stated the same thing, very, very safe. I love how quiet it is in Riverwalk. I had to stop by during the day to measure the walls for furniture and such. Without the egg incident, everything seemed surreal. I am eager to move in, hopefully they can get everything done by the 17th. Today is our initial walk through. We already spotted some things that needs touching up, but for the most part, the homes are gorgeous!
As for the traffic, I noticed that the traffic light timing needs to be completely rethought out. Most towns on busy roads have a lot of street lights, but in Santee it feels as if I am stopping at every single one. I know the town is doing a lot of construction, and hopefully they are aware of the situation. I am going to get more details of the specifics and submit my findings to the city. They actually request this information from people according to their website. Also, it could just be my sense of reality is off.
Hopefully your wall gets better and your mold report comes back clean.
