ParticipantThanks for all the comments everyone! Lot’s of good info… We currently rent in Bay Ho / Bay Park (on Baker just off of Chicago). I like this area but the houses are small, the lots are small and, to be honest, a lot of people here don’t maintain their houses at all so the neighborhood looks shoddy in parts.
We are going to continue our hunt and look at some houses in the Scripps Ranch area (the one we are looking at is in OLD Scripps south of Pomerado). My girlfriend is concerned about the fire risk there and it might be something she won’t get over.
We also really love Mission Hills but home prices are high and it will be a push for us to afford there. Ideally we want to be looking at a conforming loan which, with our deposit, means 900k or less.
Thanks again everyone!!!

ParticipantFor $900K, you will find a very nice home in Scripps Ranch. Mission Hills should be possible too. Just make a few aggressive offers. You only need one to stick. Good luck.

ParticipantWe would rather spend much less than $900k of course. There are several nice homes in the Scripps Ranch area for around $750-$850k. We are just going to keep renting and watching the market and waiting for the right property. Thanks again!
