Bunch of holier than thou type liberals posting on Facebook and going off on Public Radio, but failing to understand or delve into the fact that women say stuff like “if it were me, I would have cut his dick off” and ” hang him by his balls” and “kick him in the balls” “shove a stick up his ……
Uh, my wife has never ever said anything even remotely like that. Ever.
Nor have I ever said anything like Trump said. Ever.
I can say that for sure.
I don’t personally know anybody over the age of 21 who talks like that either. And I am pretty sure that if somebody talked like that, most people I know will certainly not condone it.
I suggest you tape and take a good long look at all three hours of “Today”.
Seriously, that last hour with Hoda and Kathy Lee, not as vulgar, but just as crass, IMO.
It’s like watching a couple 50 year old high school girls talking smack.

Perhaps – but that’s not real conversation. Those are people wanting to say whatever they can to gain ratings.
As a woman, I can say that I have never said anything like that nor can I recall any woman I know saying that – other than a suggestion to kick someone in the groin in a self defense situation.
On a different note, I just accidentally touched a click ad next to the comment box and was taken to a website for, no joke, Algae Barn. What does that say about this thread?

No, morning tv is not just as crass. It’s not even close. That argument presumes that the problem is the word pussy. That word causes eye rolls not outrage. Pussy isn’t the problem. Grab is the outrageous word. Kathi lee and Hoda aren’t promoting or bragging about sexual assault. Whining about pussy is a distraction.

I think my sister does, too. I … don’t.
That said, I’m not sure what threats of castration are supposed to be equivalent to in this thread. When I hear my mother make those kinds of statements, it’s in a vengeful fashion — extrajudicial eye-for-an-eye punishment for doing something reprehensible. Like taking any of the actions Trump claims in that Access Hollywood video.
The creepiest part of the video might actually be at the end when Billy Bush tells the woman to hug Trump. He listened to all of that on the bus and then immediately pressured the woman into physical contact with Trump. Disgusting.

All of these false equivalence arguments show that some just don’t get it.
It’s not the potty mouth that’s the issue.
The issue is the claim that power/wealth/influence supersedes the rules of law and common decency.
He was boasting that he can do whatever he wants to your daughter because he’s got influence. This is the guy that’s asking us to give him even far more power.
What kind of insecurity does a person have, that they need to brag about this stuff?

People confusing TV shows with reality. That is why Trump is doing so well.

on the other hand, theres some truth to it. people love to suck up to power. if he had said, women drop their panties when they see a billionaire coming, it wouldnt have been offensive. or they let me do anything to them. if thats what he actually intended to convey, well, that just sort of true.

Even if is true that there is some level of consent, it’s not admirable that he exploits it, and it’s downright creepy that he brags about exploiting it to random acquaintances.

I agree with this. My brother in law used to be a senior executive at a big ad agency. He was responsible for a variety of national TV/print ad campaigns. He was (initially) shocked at the matter of fact offers that he got from a lot of aspiring actresses that wanted to be the face of – well, whatever. Lily Tomlin once said: “No matter how cynical I get, it’s never enough to keep up.” Sad, but true. He does marketing for a museum now – my guess is that it’s a different story.

Yes – true. It’s a little Hugh Hefner-y who I also find creepy. According to the NYT today, Hillary has an 88% chance of winning, so hopefully he will crawl back to Trump Tower and we can stop talking about this tawdry stuff.
October 12, 2016 at 11:09 AM #802104scaredyclassicParticipanti suppose.
but is it creepier than just thinking it and not saying it.
im more conforted by transparency, frankly.
i know a dude who is unusually attractive and personable, like, off the charts movie star attractive and magnetic . women actually do let him do stuff to them very quickly. he doesnt brag about it, but its just kind of known. women on average make rhemselves quickly available for perceivedly powerful or superior men. im not sure if it matters if that reality is remarked upon.
part of trumps charm, if you can call it that, is that he says things that people dont say out loud that many believe are true. this statement is just a shade off, and if it had been a bit more open ended on the consent isdue, couldve bern spun as just more truth telling
October 12, 2016 at 11:13 AM #802105scaredyclassicParticipantit seems ridiculous to elect a president based on “who would u rather have a beer with”.
is it oerhaps just as ridiculous to elect based on issues of morality, sexual aggressiveness, or obnoxiousness? why does morality enter into it? theoretically, at least youd simply want the most effective, however u defined it.

That’s very true. Old Hollywood movies show women melting to power and wealth.
But only rich men can talk like Trump. Maybe that’s why he has a lot is support among non college educated White men. Trump represents what they want to be.
I believe the hatred for Hillary has roots in sexism. People haven’t come to terms with a powerful woman like Hillary, an intellectual woman who doesn’t bother with feminine charms.
Maybe im a wimp; but as a man, I’m ok with with giving up power to women. All I ask is they go out and earn the money commensurate with power. It would a huge load off of men’s shoulders. Go Hillary!

I wasn’t talking about Trump, I was reading the thread and taking the ‘I don’t talk that way’ as being about the cutting a guys balls off type of thing on Facebook. I see shit like that all the time. Daytime TV is that level of discourse.
Trump’s shit, that’s a whole different thing.
