Trump said a judge can’t do his job because he’s Mexican. Trump then corrected himself to say that the judge is of Mexican heritage. Obviously, to Trump, Mexican or Mexican descent it the same thing.

Funny Trump says a “Mexican” can’t be fair to him and is a “hater of Donald Trump” because he’s building a wall. But Mexicans love him and he will win the Hispanic vote.

My words referred to my own early statement about lower class, non-college educated, nativist-populist Trump supporters. That’s just a statement about the demographics of the base.

Feel free to argue that Trump is not racist. That’s your prerogative.

I am indeed repeating what other professional political and social observers and writers have said.

I always knew there were strong nativist-populist undercurrents in the Republican party. As flu implied before, that was geographically contained; and I would add contained enough to serve and not to threaten the Republican elites. But the Trump victory has taken the nativist-populist movement national and laid it bare for all to see. The Republican base is seeing it and approving.

PCinSD, if you disagree, please provide your own assessment of the Trump phenomenon and let people decide for themselves.

Certainly what I said is an oversimplification, but I think it is at least partly true as is what you’ve said.

It is hard to make a broad statement about everyone who is a member of one of the two largest political parties in the US. There is room enough in that huge party to point to examples where we are all right – you, me, and temeculaguy.

Just to make things clear, both contentions that you attributed to me are false. I have no recollection of you ever quoting the words that you claim are racist. I’m quite sure you haven’t anytime recently in this thread. And I never claimed that you attributed a quote to him that I claimed wasn’t made by him. This really isn’t about you. It’s about your claim that he said something racist. I have no idea what those words are. You could fix this by quoting him. You haven’t done it since I asked you to.
