RE telemarketing me at work?

I checked my phone messages AT WORK today, I got this recorded message, “Hi, dude, these are exciting times….Congress increased loan limits to 760K…interest rates are low…home choices are outstanding…give me a call.” I think it was a mortgage broker not a Realtor.

First of all, I think it is really in bad taste to telemarket someone while they are at work.

Secondly, I have no idea how he got my work number. The only people that know my work number are the wife, kids, and parents. Security at my company is super-high, info about anyone would be very difficult to get.

Third, these people must be getting really desperate. Ten years and this is the first time this has happened at work, several of my colleagues say they got the same message.

I got the exact same thing at work on Friday. Except the number of people that know my work number are 0, including me (I don’t get many calls). I have to look at the phone to see what my extension is.

The man said his name was Terry from Mortgage Information Center, a non profit something or other. Couldn’t find anything on google about it, and I couldn’t be bothered to write down the phone number.

It certainly is “exciting times” for these mortgage brokers who just want to be able to afford a can of tomato soup instead of the normal ramen meal…

These is disturbing. I get these calls at home, but I don’t see how or why they would target someone’s work. Why don’t you just bring it to your supervisor’s attention and let them take care of it. It’s the company’s concern since they are targeting several employees.

It is a good idea to report it,to HR I guess. I know some other people got really mad and already reported it.
