November ’06 – Curious about housing market – visit Piggington for first time by searching google for “housing crash” and “san diego”.
January/February ’07 – Slowly become addicted to reading Pigginton posts and likewise convinced that I need to sell.
March 13th – Contact SD Realtor, and some others.
March 19th – Decide to sell with SD Realtor…I hate open houses anyhow.
March 24th – Home placed on market.
March 30th-31st – First offers (2 different buyers).
April 3rd – Full asking price offered and accepted, enter escrow.
May 2nd – Move out of 30 year old 1500sq ft. condo, move into 5 year old 2500sq ft. house (with backyard for kiddies), paying same monthly.
May 3rd – close escrow
May 7th – post on Pigginton, contact Rich to invest proceeds from the sale.

Okay, so my single story doesn’t a metric make…but never the less, it’s part of the overall pie.
Sold for 489k, max for any of the same unit, 510k…so we didn’t sell at “peak” prices, but we also made a nice profit and enjoyed it while we were there. 2 years earlier our good friends and neighbors sold the same unit in the building next to ours for 489k as well. So that’s 2 years of owning with zero equity…i’ll take my chances with Rich and his gang.
I cannot tell you all how happy we are…my wife and daughter love the new place and we are extremely grateful to all of you on these forums for your knowledgeable insight. HUGE THANKS ALL AROUND!!
Funny you mention that. Not sure what’s going on with my ex-neighbor, but I can tell you that he has a semi-permanent sign up at the front of the complex. It’s one of those signs you buy at Office Max and he scribbled something in black marker on it that has almost completely been worn away by the sprinklers that have been soaking it for 10 months now. It’s really hard to read, but i’m pretty sure it says something like “The Real Estate Market always goes up!” But like I said, it’s hard to read…I could be wrong. Perhaps i’ll check on my way home tonight…oh wait, i sold my home already…nevermind. ;^)
