I’m partial to Famous Dave’s (Vista) myself, but I’ve also discovered the joys of smoking now that I have a backyard.
Smoked 13 pounds of pork butt for a potluck at work, which was enough to feed a small army with a week’s worth of food left over. Sadly I couldn’t find any brisket to smoke with it … sold out due to Hanukkah.

December 8, 2010 at 5:38 PM #637253Rich ToscanoKeymasterNice. What’s your “rig?” I used a Bradley Smoker for a really long time, but it finally died so I decided to try something different and got a Big Steel Keg (more or less the same as a Big Green Egg) because my gas grill suxd and the BSK can do low and slow or cook super hot, as needed. Just got it and I’m still playing around.

December 8, 2010 at 6:31 PM #637288CardiffBaseballParticipantI personally am not a big fan of North Carolina style BBQ, i.e. more often a pulled pork in a more “vinegary” sauce. I’ll take sausage and brisket please.
I did frequent the Encinitas BBQ, and they used to cater our closing day at little league. However I liked Phil’s too.
Also I prefer a thicker sliced brisket not the really thin strips. I say that because here in Orlando there is a popular BBQ place that doesn’t serve the thicker cut brisket but that thinly sliced stuff.
