But hey, I’m going to get around this…Before my kid is a freshman in high schoool, I’m going to temporarily change her last name to something like “Smith” or “Ramirez” and not check the ethnicity box… Hey, perfectly legal to change one’s last name, and if the admissions board classifies her mistakenly, that’s not exactly my fault is it? Yes, it might sound ridiculous…But that’s just how ridiculous some of our social policies are….[/quote]
Don’t forget to move kid in last year of HS to lowest performing school in county, sure way to get into any college.January 17, 2011 at 10:49 PM #655172equalizer

I assume this is all tongue in cheek but my perspective is, why try to cheat to get into a UC or better school. If your kids can’t even hang w/ your peers at ANY HS in SD, then most likely, your kids be creamed when they get into those prestigious schools. My guess is 90-95% of their peers will get into those school based on their own merits, so, sooner or later, they’ll have to compete at a level they can’t compete at and drop out, or get a 2.0 average.January 18, 2011 at 12:08 AM #655197an
