Granted, since my kids are in their late 20’s, some of the concerns that exist for parents today are different from the ones we had.
I was always more concerned about funding their trust funds (should they need them) than any mortal danger they might face.
Going forward, I think that will become even more crucial–if you want your kids to survive financially.
edit: Of course, based upon what Allan just posted, we may have some other concerns to deal with as well.

While this sounds nonsensical on its face, the cold reality is that these are actually civil unrest/insurrection operations and the military leadership does not want to tell those soldiers and Marines that they are actually preparing to fire upon American citizens in case such scenarios come to pass.
You’re so stupid. Zombies can’t be citizens. They’re dead. duh.

Perhaps this sounds overly paranoid to you, but the thought of voluntarily disarming myself in the face of ever-increasing government intrusion and control just doesn’t seem like a good idea.
I totally get that part. I happen to fear government intrusion only slightly less than I fear those more paranoid than you, those accumulating both weapons and ammunition in anticipation of what they see as an inevitably necessary armed resurrection.
+1 million
This is why I do not favor gun control.

Shit, they’re probably eligible to vote in Chicago!

I can cure the deficit. Stop sending them SS checks, covering them with medicare, and jack up their taxes. The “right to death” people may throw a fit, but screw them. I’m sick of special interests.

Dude, it’s freezing here in Az. Way below 50 I bet. The canals may freeze solid tonight. So I’ve been drinking irish coffee all day. Well, not all day. I can’t handle caffeine after about noon. So I stopped putting the coffee in then.

Rock on, brother!
December 17, 2012 at 9:03 AM #756441UCGalParticipantYou missed one – a local one.
Jan 29, 1979, Brenda Spencer opened fire on Cleveland Elementary in San Diego. She killed 2 adults, and injured 8 children.
Stated reason: “I don’t like Mondays”. Basically she was bored and her dad had given her a Ruger the month before, for Christmas. She was a trailblazer of the worst sort – this was the first school shooting.
Great Boomtown Rats song about it – but they wouldn’t sell the albumn in San Diego till 6 months after the release. (I had to go to LA to get a copy of the vinyl.)
December 17, 2012 at 9:27 AM #756442SK in CVParticipantI remember the Brenda Spencer story pretty well. I grew up in that area.
Just a few years earlier, and just a couple of miles away, a high school senior, Danny Alstadt took an axe, and gave his father 40 whacks. And when he saw what he had done, he did the same to his mother and sister. His younger brother survived, but last I heard was still paralyzed. Danny hung himself in prison about 10 years ago. He had been my younger brother’s science lab partner in high school.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man’s name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news.”
I would rather remember who the real killers are.
The real killer of these innocent children is not the person who killed them.
The real killer of these children is an organization who goes by the name NRA which has blocked any sensible common sense gun control in this country. If we had it, I have no doubt that many of these lives would have been saved.
The real killer of these children are people who were serving in congress in 2004 and white house who killed the renewal of assault weapons ban because they were too afraid of the backlash or playing petty politics.
The real killer of these children are gun manufacturers in this country who keep behaving irresponsibly to protect their profits.
The real killers are internet trolls who keep on glorifying gun ownership, keep on coming up with nonsense scenarios to justify owning AK47s.
They all can sleep happily knowing that their worldview has won and they have succeeded in creating this society where anyone can buy pretty much any firearm they want and shoot at anyone. Hope they all are happy now.
They can argue all they want, but in my mind they are they real killers.
December 17, 2012 at 12:22 PM #756462NotCrankyParticipantWhen schools, doctors and pharmaceutical companies colluded to put hundreds of thousand of children on drugs, I felt that was a problem. Any diagnosis will do. Why did so many boys all of the sudden need to be medicated in grade school?
This gives them a stigma, teaches them to completely distrust themselves and who knows what it does to their development physically and mentally.

???
Looks like some lame attempt to steer the discussion somewhere else because you don’t like to hear bad things about NRA but unfortunately can not say anything positive in support of NRA either. Hoping that things will quiet down after a few days?
