The truth is that we live in a society which sanctions semi-electrocution of its own children on the grounds that it is not fatal, and therefore not true electrocution. It springs from the same streak of cultural cruelty that deems semi-drowning by water boarding not to be torture because it is seldom fatal.
In other news a predator drone killed 12 at a wedding party
I know quite a few people who enjoyed watching Shock and Awe on TV. They thought it was like a fun video game. That’s the kind of sick culture we live in.

Well, I’d trace the current madness back to the mid neolithic period. Hierarchical structure always need violence to uphold and state sanctioned violence becomes accepted. But, that is another discussion. I agree, we are all mentally ill to one extent or another and the cultural pathology seems to have gone malignant. Part of the mental illness is misplacing cause and effect. We seem to spend all our time and resources fixing, diagnosing and complaining about symptoms.
I agree Arraya.
I also think that there’s an animalistic element to the gun culture. Backward men love guns because they are afraid of stronger men stealing their women.
