Yowza — I’ve never heard anyone get so excited about a new GAS STATION! I hope that Costco includes a Tesla fast-charge station in the new construction as well, though I do think it’s unlikely.

February 17, 2014 at 10:38 AM #771062SD TransplantParticipanttraffic is going to be troublesome. I live nearby, and in the weekends I can only find parking around the bank or far away. Interesting to see what impact the new gas station will have a year from now.
February 18, 2014 at 8:54 PM #771083mike92104ParticipantI’m hoping they all end up with car washes like the one on Poway.
February 22, 2014 at 10:23 PM #771185equalizerParticipantCostco is not top tier gas member. Mostly marketing, but there is some testing. BTW, M5 fans don’t seem to use Costco. Only time I’m glad I’m not burdened by M5 ownership. I just use mobil 89 by the house, a little more than Costco but no long lines. 240K on one car and still going strong.
Will the Shell next to Costco lower prices??
February 22, 2014 at 10:25 PM #771186equalizerParticipantmike, Parking is limited there now, you want a drive through as well?
February 23, 2014 at 6:07 PM #771198bob2007ParticipantI drive by the poway costco all the time, but the lines are too long to wait in. Hope yours will be shorter.

I think the top tier thing was more of a marketing scam a few years back, and since then I think costco has added added additives above the minimum standards for some time…
I’d be more worried how clean those gas tanks are and how often fuel is turned over in the station….
Fuel sold in CA i believe go through 2 terminals anyway, so I think any difference would be in the additives added thereafter….
Up to know I’ve been kinda of a Shell/Mobil/Chevron person, with slight costco fillups when I was there.
May 23, 2014 at 8:23 PM #774237EssbeeParticipantCarmel Mtn Costco gas station opened today!!! Price is $3.93 per gallon, which is pretty good, considering that I paid something like $4.10 earlier in the week. There was no line tonight, but I bet that won’t last for long.
May 23, 2014 at 11:05 PM #774246svelteParticipantNoticed they took over the area where I used to park. Last time I stop by for a slice of pizza…I’m out…
May 24, 2014 at 8:10 AM #774252CoronitaParticipantI’ve decided to boycott costco for anything automotive related….. After them doing a number on my last set of wheels at the tire center.
May 24, 2014 at 8:17 AM #774254The-ShovelerParticipantGas is kind of like food IMO (OK food for your car).
But I have been known to avoid Costco gas because of the long lines.
I have sometimes spent 10-15 cents more a gallon just to avoid the line.
I hate waiting in gas lines, seems like your burning up the saving Idling in line LOL.
May 24, 2014 at 10:42 AM #774258spdrunParticipantProblem is that there’s good gas and bad gas, though perhaps it applies more to diesel. I’ve had a fuel filter clog up twice after buying fuel from a certain station in Virginia. Takes about 5 min to replace, but the filters are $10 a pop so any savings on fuel price are eaten.
May 27, 2014 at 5:55 AM #774383moneymakerParticipantI’d say Costco is probably one of the safest places to buy gas. Stay away from stations that don’t sell much gas, as they tend to collect water in their tanks from the tanks being lower in fuel and moisture condensing on the tank walls over night
