Last note… Contrary to popular disbelief, ask retailers who pay salespeople on commission to match wholesale prices (such as pacific sales/costco)… Some say they don’t do this. Hogwash…The difference is whether the salesman wants his/her commission or not and how quickly he/she can ture the sales.
If you walk in with the model number in hand, with the price in hand, and give the salesperson confidence that you’ll purchase if you get your price and won’t take longer than 15 mins of his time, more than likely he/she will do it (since most people “shopping” for appliances never buy the first time in the store, and rarely return to buy from the same salesperson.

So I took advantage of the cash for appliance rebate program, and got a LG fridge (3 door french door style) from sears a few months back…
Oh boy, was that a mistake. I’ve had nothing but problems with the LG fridge. The first one I received frosted like crazy. The ice maker was off.. Sears gratiously sent a replacement 1 week later….The same thing happened to the second LG fridge I received. LG customer service was terrible. I got the “unplug the fridge for 15 mins to let things reset and plug it back in” crap….. I ended up sending that one back again, and purchased this one from Whirpool when sears had 30% off of all whirpool appliances..
http://www.whirlpool.com/catalog/product.jsp?src=REFRIGERATORS&cat=96&prod=1516
Night and day. I’ve been using the Whirpool one for a week… No frost problem. whatsoever..Plus after the 30% off, it ended up being less than the LG, and also with more features…Lastly, as an added bonus, it’s made in USA….
Whirpool 1 , LG 0
Also got my appliance rebate check today….

September 23, 2010 at 7:31 PM #608761UCGalParticipantcongrats on the new fridge. I have a 3 year old “kenmore” that is really an LG. It has been great – no issues.
Do you have icemaker in the door? We opted for water in the door – but no icemaker… I wonder if that design difference is the issue. (It looked like a lot things could go wrong with the icemaker up in the fridge section… one of the reasons we opted to not get that model.)
