Based on the quality of the hamburgers I sometimes eat I could argue that a lot of folks making $10/hour in the fast food industry are overpaid.
Offtopic: It’s funny because Hell’s Kitchen is one of the shows I watch. I’m constantly amazed at how incompetent these idiots are on this show and supposedly all of the are working chefs (in some capacity).
I worked part-time at a Chart House in high school and college as a line cook. If I burnt or threw away even 1/100th of the food they did in one show I’d get fired on the spot. That’s profit going into the trash.
I couldn’t believe the imbecile the other night who tried to cook off 2 dozen filet mignon before the orders were even up or the idiot who had a mound of over/under done scallops left over midway through dinner.

Public schools are a total waste of money and are turning out poorly educated people. Watch Jay (Leno) walking for examples. I am sure he picks the worst to showcase, but for God’s sake, some of the people he interviews are supposed to be teachers. All the bond money has not improved the infrastructure that much either.
As for GM and the banks, they should have been allowed to fail. I guess if Congress did not have so much invested in them, they would have let them fail. Drain the swamp; all of it.

Public schools spend approximately 10k per pupil on average. That is pretty comparable to private schools. If anything, many private schools are cheaper. And I have a strong feeling the aggregate quality of education in private schools is much much higher.
For the record I think MANY (certainly not all) teachers are even more overpaid than firemen, but that is for another topic I suppose.
