Allan, I don’t see how my dissing the religious folks is the same as their blatant disrespect and often times illegal interference upon the business of others.
I disrespect the extreme religious folks’ values, opinions and actions because they won’t leave people alone. On the other hand, I don’t aim to stop them from choosing how to live their own lives.
Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, Gays and other minority groups that I defend just want to be given the same opportunities as others and to be left alone.
Gays are not forcing anyone to be gay. Conservatives folks want to force others to lead their lifestyles and conform to their expectations of a righteous life.
If gays want to get married, how does that affect a straight religious couple’s marriage?
If a woman wants a legal abortion, how does that affect a religious woman’s ability to breed?
If a husband wants to discontinue life support on his own comatose wife, how does that affect other families continuing to force tube-feed their own sick relatives?
I’m for live and let live. Give people equal opportunity and let them live their own lives.
Nobody is stopping the religious folks’ from living their own lives, the way the wish.
People who constantly want to interfere upon the lives of others should be ashamed; and they should be made to feel ashamed.

October 17, 2009 at 12:44 PM #470348briansd1Guest
Zeit: I think even Brian would have to admit to his bigotry, especially against Christians, Republicans, people from Kansas and Wal-Mart shoppers (of a certain socio-economic demo, given that Brian apparently shops there as well).
I already responded to the Christian thing above.
Republicans. Well that’s a partisan thing. I believe that the feelings are mutual; so, no hard feelings. π
Kansas. That’s only as a generic general reference to the conservatives as described in the book you first reference in a post.
Otherwise, I love Kansas as much as Californians or New Yorkers.I think that Walmart shoppers are smart. They get great value for their money. Walmart shoppers are pragmatic ultimate consumers. They don’t care about made in xxx, pleasant customer service, decor, or presentation. They just want their goods cheap when they want them.
The key to shopping smart at Walmart is to buy only what you need and not be lured into buying cheap things you don’t need.

October 17, 2009 at 1:21 PM #470358ZeitgeistParticipantExactly right, Allan. Substitute a minority or gay and it would be blatant, hateful bashing. Use Catholic or Christian and Brian thinks he is the all knowing, one and true defender of all the earths minorities. He did not answer if he is living at home either. I did not ask if he was living in the basement at home… He has no idea who the people out here are and prefers to call them Kansans. For all he knows they, too are minorities and women. There are quite a few on Piggington. Not all minorities are liberal dems and neither are all women. I guess he is the great white defender??? He is practically pious in his pompousness,
