OT: One man takes a stand against socialism

Brian: Wait a minute. Wasn’t Obama the guy who pledged to check every line on the federal budget and eliminate waste and mis-spending?

As far as the Obama Administration recognizing that military spending is out of line: Why in the hell did Obama just approve the largest defense budget ever? That is completely insane: Obama, recognizing that military spending is out of line, goes ahead and votes for MORE of it. Uh, yeah, okay, that makes sense.

No, Gates is doing this on his own, completely independent of Obama, and you’d better believe that Gates knows how many pols, Dem and Repub, have fat defense jobs in their home districts, and will fight this tooth and claw.

Wasn’t Obama supposed to pull us out of Iraq? That would save us a lot of $$$$.

I like the guy, but just sayin’, we need to start pulling out of Iraq along with closing old bases in Germany and other places in Europe. “Obamacare” is a drop in the bucket compared to those kinds of potential savings!

That’s supposed to be 2011. If Obama doesn’t pull out before the 2012 elections, he’ll have a lot of disappointed constituents who will not vote for him.

Combat forces are scheduled to be out by Aug. 31 this year. Depending on the violence and relative stability, that date could be delayed. But unless there has been recent news that I’ve missed, that agreement, at the insistence of the Iraqi government, is still in place. 50,000 noncombat troops will remain. Most, if not all of withdrawn troops are expected to be redeployed in Afghanistan.
