“Marion: You think the statement that I made is out of line? You’ve got to be kidding?
Yes, I think it’s out of line because you went and stated that some Africans were responsible for selling out their people when we know who was responsible for this.”
Actually Marion, it is well-documented that certain African tribes (those based in coastal territories) collaborated wth European slave traders to identify and capture other African tribes located in the continent’s interior. You won’t have to do much research to confirm this. it’s regrettable, but it’s a fact.
That said, I am not absolving this government for the atrocities perpetrated against blacks and Native Americans. I just think at a certain point we need to move on, because it is becoming quite apparent to me that when we get bogged down in the shame and blame game, white people do not respond well, and it often tends to excaerbate the relationship between the races.
I wouldn’t expect a grandchild of an SS soldier in Nazi Germany to continually apologize for the sins of his or her ancestors. It’s not fair to hold someone accountable for the actions of people over whom they had no control or in many cases never even met.
I think Obama was makign tremendous progress in keeping race out of the campaign until the Wright factor was injected. Obama disowned the man. I don’t see why so many other peopel have such a hard time doing the same thing.

Marion, from your many posts on a variety of subjects, it has become very apparent to me that you are a “Professional Victim”. Now, here we go with the “Race Card” Why don’t you give it a rest?
Ex-SD, you need to be honest. Show me where I pulled the “race card”. I believe I said I don’t support monetary reparations.
If you’re going to attack me, at least make your attack valid. Is this how it’s going to be on here? Anytime someone of another race says something against the majority opinion, they’re going to be accused of “pulling the race card” and of being a victim? Pure B.S.

Partypup, I already stated that fact.

Wright never should have remained such a factor in Obama’s race. The association was overblown. I think that just tells up we still have a ways to go as far as race relations are concerned in this country. It is and has been time to move on from this. Barack Obama has been chosen as the democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States, and those who continue to bring up Wright need to examine why that is such a pressing concern to them.
