Allan,
I agree. Putin is a brilliant man and perfectly capable of being a cutthroat. It is his KGB pedigree showing. He is no Gorbachev. He is too young to remember the purges and he does not like people. He likes power.August 9, 2008 at 10:00 PM #255239jficquetteParticipant

I was reading yesterday where it said Obama had dual citzenships, Keny and the US. Kenya does not allow dual citizenships. So he either had to rennouce his US citizenship or he became a US Citzen after he was a Kenyan citizen and Kenya was never notified
Also check this issue out. It looks like Obama was born in Kenya. He ain’t even eligible to be Prez.

I’m curious, John (and LaJolla pig and Brutus): How do you guys decide whether to believe something you read on the internet? Or do you not give that any thought at all and just believe whatever you want to believe?
Some believe/ignore things based on personal feelings. Some take a fact based approach as to what they believe but in the end we all believe what we want to believe.

Given that the Russians have moved some fairly significant forces into play against the Georgians, and we are stretched thin with other “commitments”, there really isn’t s**t we can do, even if we wanted to.
You gotta give Putin credit. He used the Beijing Olympics as an excellent cover.
Its a tough situation but I get the feeling Obama wouldn’t even know where to begin. I certainly rather have McCain and his people handling it rather then Sandy Berger, Marlyn Albright et.al.
Yes Putin is pretty ruthless.

Well, that’s arguable. But, generally, believing what you want to believe doesn’t really apply to easily provable (or disprovable) things. It’s quite easy to find out whether Obama is really eligible to be president. Whether he was born in Kenya or Hawaii.Yet you appear to choose not to find out. Why is that?
If you are going to get all the information you can in order to make larger decisions, then the least you could do (if you care whether or not you’re going to make good decisions) is to get the easy stuff right. How do you expect to make good decisions on larger issues (like who to vote for) if you don’t bother to take a few seconds to find out what’s true and what’s not?
