Too bad there isn’t one. Unlike the Carter Presidency, there doesn’t appear to be a Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings. If the GOP wishes to even appear serious about 2012, then they need to get their house in order and build a credible platform with a credible candidate and distance themselves from the lunatic element, like Trump and Palin.[/quote]
Romney is quite credible and even electable.

This is the way campaigning works. Political parties use the exact same methodology as corporate advertising.
Meaning, they follow marketing research studies and fashion talking points to the results. Most of it is geared toward an emotional response to issues and terms.

I agree. Marketing works beautifully otherwise corporations would not spend so much money on it.
We can talk about reason all we want, but emotions usually provoke the strongest responses. The least educated people are, the more they respond to emotional marketing.
Arraya, I agreed when you said before that the president is a figure head and that the “establishment” runs the show.
But the message, the language, and the culture matter a great deal. They can change the sentiments and attitudes within the establishment and the general public and lead to different end results.

Again, I applaud brian for leading one or two elephants out of their confines and parking them squarely in my garage. I couldn’t have said this any better myself :=]
So true, all of it. Thanks for posting, everyone!
