Have you ever been to houses with dirty light switches? The surrounding area blackened by dirty hands? I bought a condo like that. Build in 2007. The doors were also dirty.
My vacation rentals frequently have greasy light switches, door levers and refrigerator handles. People put stuff in the microwave without covering. They spill things in the fridge. They put trash in the recycle bin. My vacation rentals are profitable so I won’t complain. But I notice people’s filthy habits more since doing this.
When guests make a reservation, I see a profile with a picture. They also send me a message about themselves. Now. I pretty much can tell in advance who will be clean and who won’t.
Chances are they have kids. You won’t ever understand it until you have kids, Brian, but kids will mess things up so fast it will make your head spin. They make “weird” messes, too…things that just don’t make any sense because making the mess would have been so much more work than keeping it clean.
November 26, 2014 at 9:28 PM #780431scaredyclassicParticipantfact: little kids actually take giant dumps IN THEIR PANTS…..
unbelievably messy.
ok, sit down now…have you ever heard of a “blowout”?
thats when the poop actually explodes out of the diaper upt he kids back or out the legs!
there is literally poo everywhere! it can fly to light switches, ceiling fans. it is amazing.
the blowout. they are like filth machines!
plus; the winter lice infestation….

true. but it’s only once in a while…
November 27, 2014 at 7:54 AM #780436NotCrankyParticipantIn B’s world kids are in the boarding school as soon as the wet nurse in the guest house has them weaned. The blowouts come when they are toddlers so by that time it’s someone else’s problem.

My wife was holding our first baby kind of face to face while talking to a real estate agent here in Jamul …he projectile vomited milk fat or whatever it was right back into her mouth. Nothing but the bottom of the net style. Swish. I don’t laugh about any blowouts from the other end. Not any I had to clean up …that’s not to say they weren’t endearing moments.
November 27, 2014 at 12:29 PM #780442FlyerInHiGuestBoarding school is cheaper and less headaches than SAHP. Teaches kids to make up their beds and be tidy.

SAHP may be a pain in the ass but they are cheaper when you figure they get paid more or less the same for 1 kid or 6.November 27, 2014 at 10:25 PM #780445scaredyclassicParticipantIt’s the contrast between the disgust of the parent and the oblivious Ness of the child during a blowout that underlies the humor for me
November 28, 2014 at 12:06 AM #780446CA renterParticipantThe worst blowouts are when you’re traveling and the kid explodes all over the entire car seat, all the way up into the hair. And you can’t legally take them out of the seat because they have to be strapped in while driving…and you can’t clean it up right away because where the hell do you go to clean THAT up (the seat, the kid…all of that mess!) when you’re on the road?
I was not laughing.
