If the pedals are not indistinguishable, then why isn’t it a design flaw? Are the pedals in the Audi too close to each other or is the brake pedal too small? Are the Lexus mat holders or all-weather mats susceptible to operator error? If so, then it is a prima facie design error.

Lexus pedals aren’t too small or too close to each other. If mats are the cause, then bolt the damn things to the floor.

Audi’s were redesigned with larger pedal spacing…The floor mats were recalled by Lexus, don’t know if the dealer took them out of the rental/loaner.

I’m not saying that it isn’t a poor design or that floor mats caused the problem. Something did but I don’t think that it was a stuck accelerator. I just keep coming back to the point that you can’t overcome the brakes on a modern car. The Lexus they were driving doesn’t have the kind of power necessary to do that and the brakes weren’t drive-by-wire. I’ve got a 505 HP corvette and I cant overcome the brakes on it. (Yes I’ve tried, just to see how much tire smoke we could develop.)

From what I can tell in the article the dealer left recalled floor mats in the loaner, that isn’t going to go well for them in court. He even had his flashers on while it was defeating the brakes as evidenced by the preliminary investigation. If I owned a sign company I would already be making signs for the saylor family trust lexus of el cajon, cause bob baker will be lucky if they only win one of his dealerships in court. Might as well start the saylor family trust auto group formerly known as bob baker auto group signs.
