[quote=njtosd]If you ever get to Chicago, the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio in Oak Park is fantastic. Wright lived there with his family from 1889 until 1909 and the prairie that lay beyond Oak Park at the time was part of the inspiration for his style. There are many homes designed by him within walking distance, and most of the architecture in Oak Park (including the assisted living facility where my Mom lives) is influenced by his style.

It is Doris Duke’s estate – she had an interest in Islamic art – the architecture – furnishings – art are all influenced by her travels and study of Islamic art – plus you learn about her and her travels/life. It located in a regular residential neighborhood so you need to make reservations and they only take out small groups at a time (two groups of about 12 if I remember correctly). I highly recommend it.
