I agree with John. I think a terror or bio-terror event would bring us closer to a Mad Max scenario. I don’t see this happening with an earthquake unless its completely devastating, and I think the odds are against that happening anytime soon (unless you dip your head down the 2012 rabbit hole – but we’ll save that for another thread;-)).

I know it’s not a popular view, Aecetia, but I just don’t see any possible way to reanimate or stimulate this corpse of an economy at this point. Sooner or later, I think we will all need to accept the fact that the U.S. economy (post 1971) had an expiration date, and that date has now arrived. The efforts made by the government really strike me as attempts to remodel a kitchen while the rest of the house is on fire. At a certain point, it’s best to just get out of the house, let it collapse, clear out the rubble the next day, THEN start re-building.
