ParticipantHere comes the showdown at the O.K. Corral:
“But the governor’s order is certain to come under immediate challenge. The state controller has said he will not comply, in part because he said the move is likely to invite lawsuits from employee unions. Controller John Chiang, a Democrat, has said he will defy the order and issue employees their regular paychecks, setting up a potential legal skirmish between his office and Schwarzenegger’s.”

ParticipantThey’ve been too busy banning trans fat to work on something as irrelevant as a state budget.
I mean, it’s not like the budget means anything to anybody in Sac anyways. They’ll still spend whatever the hell they want.

ParticipantThis is NOT off topic at all! These job cuts are a tip of the iceberg of the economic instability and pain CA will suffer due to housing bust. Unfortunately, it makes more productive and better off Californians vote with their feet (or U-Hauls) compounding the crisis. Think of what signal it sends to an investor or skilled person thinking of moving to CA.
