Arraya as a libertarian my prime faith is that govt should be used for a few functions as possible. The govt has proven to be inept in pretty much every single large program they have attempted regardless of party in power. Jeez Arraya they cannot even run the friggin postal service and break even. Failure in govt at county, state and federal levels is clearly evident to me, whether others see it or not is something I never understand.
Getting back to the main point, I am making my statements from a strict supply/demand perspective. This is simply a supply constriction measure to me, nothing more and nothing less. It will also help to increase bank dependence on the govt as it will only slowdown what I call the reconciliation process, disposing of non performing assets and getting the books cleaned up. The longer it takes banks to do this, the more they will need to be backstopped.

February 26, 2010 at 9:14 AM #518516ArrayaParticipantI was just ribbing you, mostly. I think this is bad news for everybody, though. As far as keeping home prices elevated. It will keep working until it doesn’t. And when things turn worse, it will be “unexpected”. The have more ear marked to stop price declines than the entire market is worth. Insanity is here.

February 26, 2010 at 9:15 AM #518521briansd1GuestWe are headed down the road of Japan, France and China. Housing there is much higher compared to median income.
Maybe a dirigiste economy controlled by the government is what we’ll end up getting.
In my opinion, America was the land of free because we could afford space and cars (freedom) on our incomes. I guess we are still the land of free depending on where you live.
Time will tell….
