This is essentially what Reagan/Volcker did at the beginning of his term and it worked out great for Reagan.
[/quote]You’re baffled because you don’t know wtf you’re talking about. Volcker tightened the money supply to get control of inflation so that the economy could grow. Reagan in an act of political courage told Volcker to do it, even though he knew it would cause recession. When Reagan left office the DOW had tripled, and after years of high inflation and no economic growth through Ford & Carter, inflation was dramatically down, and growth was strong. We ate off that act of political courage for the past three decades.
Now we once again have the best and the brightest of ivy league pinheads at the levers of power. The destruction they will leave in their wake will be monumental.

February 25, 2009 at 7:25 PM #355045scaredyclassicParticipantI was so excited when barack won the election. I was freaking out happy. It was just great. a party! Now I’m bummed. it’s so depressing. it’s all the same. i wasn’t excited abecause I was thinking things would be different. i was excited because bush was finally freaking gone and i wouldn’t have to listen to mccain. and i like barack personally, plus he’s not bush, insufferable dweeb. but now, it’s like reality. it’s all the same. what is different than what bush woulda done? nothing. it’s all the same. sad. idiocy. freaking united states. the govt owes us some pot to get through these trying times.

I’ll repeat as a broken record. The best government is the one that can’t agree on get anything done except the really important things that really are bipartisan. Next election, I think I’ll vote Democratic again…Because it seems like they are going to need all the votes they can get, and really don’t want the pendulum to swing to the other extreme again. Please ,no more extreme governments. Enough is enough, on either side.
One positive note. Amen to no more AMT for me. 🙂
