Nope, not so much. My point has been to point out the obvious: Obama has done little, if anything, either domestically or internationally (that SNL skit, by the way, was hilarious). For him to be lauded as he has is nonsensical and this prize merely proves that point.
Obama just started his presidency. You have to understand the limits presidential power in a democracy.
Even in a private corporation, a CEO can only do so much when the entrenched interests don’t cooperate.
Hell, in a family the husband can’t do what he wants unless his wife agrees. But some spouses are better at household management than others.
So far, Obama has been a good manager.
Sure Obama is being lauded. If you don’t like the lauding, blame those doing the lauding, not the person receiving the accolades.
That’s petty stuff just like Kanye West claiming that Taylor Swift didn’t deserve the award (I agree that Beyonce was better and more deserving, but Taylor won. So be it).

Dan: Does your man-gina burn when you itch it? Geez, you get waxed in a couple of posts and go Britney, doncha?Oh, yeah, you’re Irish. I keep forgetting that. Well, now I understand why the Brits had such an easy go subjugating you Celts for the last 700 YEARS.
Did Mrs. Cassidy’s little boy get his feelings hurt? C’mon, Dan, employ a little of that vaunted subtlety and allow that towering intellect to destroy all before it. Lou Dobbs? Really? That the best you got?
Shake old James Joyce’s ghost and let loose with some blistering verse. For old time’s sake.
Dude.
Ethnic derision and jokes about my dead mother?
For somebody who got another troll expelled from this blog for talking about certain things you dance close to the edge.
And a Jew joking about Irish persecution isn’t the set up to a joke.
Its a punchline.
Like “death panels” or “megalomania is about accretion of power”.
Seriously?
The humor here is that you complain about the decline of discourse.
And I don’t think you even get the irony.
Its just not fun when your discussions turn into Casca light.
For me its like that point a few years ago when I realized that Dan Brown had gone from being a Michael Crichton wannabe to better than him (mostly due to Crichton).
Your discourse has just gotten dull and cnn-like.Is your old-timey-ness satisfied?

October 10, 2009 at 12:13 PM #466963Allan from FallbrookParticipantDan: Oh, grow up. You get thumped a couple of times and all of sudden, its just not so funny.
Give me a break, Dan. You’re just irked at being exposed for throwing out some pointless faux intellectualism. “Megalomania is immature power sharing”. Really?
Let me guess. You were one of those guys that had the Che shirt, smoked Djarums and kept a copy of Camus’ “The Stranger” in the back pocket of his 501s, right?
Being accused of dullness by an unthinking member of the intelligentsia isn’t an insult, its a validation.
I would never joke about someone’s lost loved one, so don’t even stoop to making an accusation like that. I was clearly unaware and you have my sympathy.
