Good NY Times article on awarding the Peace Prize to Obama.
“It’s important for the committee to recognize people who are struggling and idealistic,” Mr. Jagland said in an interview, “but we cannot do that every year. We must from time to time go into the realm of realpolitik. It is always a mix of idealism and realpolitik that can change the world.”

I agree no sense in dogpiling, but isn’t it really an affirmation of the aspirations of the givers of the award being almost imposed on the leader of an an imperialistic nation. If all you say happened as a mere result of Obama being elected, I would credit the electorate not Obama.

The prize is an affirmation of our aspirations and ideals.
It’s a statement from the world that the world wants and expects us to lead in peace and prosperity, not war and destruction.
This is a day to be proud of America and of our president. [/quote]
Wow, the world really has turned upside down. The lefties are starting to sound like the right wing nutjobs that used to spout off when I was in high school trying to avoid going to vietnam. I think I’m gonna have to go back to the legalizing marijuana thread. This ones getting too patriotic for me.
