Replace the pension system with 401K’s and hire more people. Reduces huge overhead obligations and the need for massive over-time.
Kinda like the private sector. What a concept.
And hmmm, I’m a software engineer and I sure don’t work 50 hours a week. Sure, it happens if I am super busy but otherwise I don’t even do 40. Oops! Hey, I work entirely from home and can work whatever hours I want as long as I get my assignments done on time which I 100% do. And I have been told flat out by my boss that he doesn’t care if it only takes me 30 hours to get something done that would otherwise take 50 hours. There is a lot of down time office bs that happens when you are physically at the office.

They operate like other bureaucrats, churning out worthless memos. Most taxpayers want boots on the ground, whether we are talking about teachers or firefighters. There is a lot of redundancy in government that could better be handled by lower level employees more familiar with real world issues and less about justifying their fat salary(ies). Off with their heads!
