“John Lundin in San Marcos is doing the same. Putting old listings from a year or two back up on Zillow as if they are for sale right now.”
OK, I am a little slow here. How does this work for the realtor? Is it just to draw in buyers? Do the owners of the homes know this is happening?
There are 1000’s of houses for sale. Why do they need to create a phony sale?

April 30, 2008 at 8:28 AM #196486svelteParticipantToots, I’m a little confused by it myself.
I guess the theory is that by having fake listings shown on Zillow, that will generate interest and phone calls to the realtor’s office. When they call, maybe he’ll simply tell them that one is unavailable but he can show them other homes.
But the problem is that the prices he shows on the fake listings are about 06 prices – way too much in today’s market! You would think that would cause people to breeze on by instead of calling.
Shrug.
