Thank you, Ex-Sd, but the logic is the result of two years of reading this site and “borrowing” ideas from the various people here. I am merely a product of this site and the collective mind it represents. Over time each topic prompted me to research more and more just so I wouldn’t be talking out of my butt and it is now at the point that it’s almost an obsession, one that I can rationalize because my two near miss knife catches would have cost me over 100k as of right now. We are so far ahead in the unwinding up here that I can’t lose at this point, now it’s come down to being picky. My biggest obstacle now is that after looking at houses for two years I have become so picky I worry that other than building my own house will I ever be happy with an existing floorplan. I have looked inside almost every model match in my zip code every month I eliminate another tract from my search for one reason or another, within those few tracts the location makes the pool of potentials even smaller (where the morning and evening sun hits it, location on street, view, lot, etc.) it feels like there are only a few I’d be happy with and those aren’t for sale. Luckily it’s a declining market so it’s working for me but if the right house in the right location finally appears, I’ll probably just do it because in the last three months I actually haven’t found one that is the right fit and the ones I would have bought a year ago I wouldn’t even consider now because they lack things that cannot be changed. Counters, flooring and appliances can all be changed but closet size, bedroom sizes, bathroom configuration, layout, ceiling height, neighborhood, etc. are constants. Combined with the fact that I also don’t want to clean and air condition over 3000 sq ft, I think my only real choice is Vallium or Zoloft.

Is this legal? It’s my understanding that having your home for sale will preclude you from being able to re-fi until it’s off the market for a certain number of days (60 I think my M-I-L told me).
What if these owners want to re-fi but their bank or an appraiser sees their home for sale on Zillow?
Maybe it’s only considered “for sale” if it has a proper MLS listing?

Yup, we were just plain lucky to sell when we did. It was this site that prompted us to take the low ball offer and move on with our lives.
I use Zillow primarily to see what homes have sold for as they are the only site I know that posts what the final sale prices of the homes were.
I can’t remember who built the places we lived in…but whomever it was, we had the usual shoddy workmanship. Toilet seal that leaked on the second floor so had to take out some ceiling and replace, not a right angle corner in the place, anytime someone walked upstairs it sounded like a herd of elephants downstairs and don’t get me started on the base model oven in that place. All of which is livable if you’re paying $100.00 or less a sq. ft. but more than that, I really don’t know what the heck we were thinking when we paid 2004 prices for that place ($176.00/sq. ft.) plus the mellow roos of 1300/yr. Oh well, live and learn.
