I’ve been one the phone with these jokers for the Nth time in a week, on hold for hours. These clowns have like 6 different departments handling two accounts, and every single time one of the departments make a change to one account from one location, information/money/etc from another department suddenly disappears for a few days. Call branch X get transferred to call center Y who then transfers to branch Y who transfers to call center Z who tells me they can’t handle shit and need to transfer me back to branch X, who then asks me if I talked to call center Y…

Hello, anyone ever heard of an integrated IT solution? Folks in Bangalore at other firms can handle this better than this joke of an institution. If these clowns can’t even handle a few thousand dollars, how can anymore possibly trust them them to handle anything more than that??? No wonder they charge a ripoff rate on commissions/ trading/transactions.. They need to pay all these administrative/counterproductive middlemen “account managers”.

Maybe I called the wrong number, and accidentally got the DMV, or some government office or something. How the hell do these folks stay in business???? Oh, wait…Because companies still use them to administer stock plans/etc… Ugh!!!! I need to go kick a door or something….

Smith Barney/MS does not have your best interest at heart. The FC’s (Financial Consultants) are driven hard to produce revenue (commissions) for the mother ship. Unless you have 1M+ under management, you are not going to get any love. I was with them for over 10 years. Charles Schwab on the other hand has a completely different business model and fee structure and excellent service. I highly recommend you call them and they will handle the account move for you. 3 months later you will wish you had done so long ago.
