Guess we all have different experiences. My mother is a faller and had a previous rehab stint several years under which she collected for inpatient and home care benefits. About 4 years ago she had a hospitalization follwed by skilled nursing for 30 days. Medicare and Medigap covered the hospitalization and skilled nursing. The key was the hospitalization prior to admittance to the SNF if I remember correctly. After that she moved into assisted living and has been there since then. LTC insurance has covered almost every penny of her assisted living stay to date. I always joke with her that she has been living free and clear for the last 4 years and at a time she should be spending down her estate its grown faster than ever. I guess we have been very fortunate in that regard.
