I left San Diego for the Bay area in 2009 but still manage to lurk here once in a while :^). I don’t have a list of local lenders, though I have one old work acquaintance who is now a mortgage lender. And I know a realtor or two who may have opinions or lists. We have a couple of properties, and did a bunch of shopping around at the times we bought them. Both for purchases and refis, we’ve been using Stanford Federal Credit Union – they always seemed competitive with rates, pretty competent, quite responsive, and generally good to work with. We live mid-peninsula – if you have any specific questions, please let me know.
Good luck!
Scott
Hi Scott:
Nice to meet a fellow Bay Area pigg! Thanks for the tip. Had not heard about Stanford Credit Federal Union but just did a quote and looks like their rates and closing costs would be slightly cheaper than a big bank like Wells Fargo.
Did you work with any loan officer in particular there that you would recommend?

Oops, sorry I never saw your question about a loan officer – at SFCU we’ve used Alex D. – it’s a small team, so I’m sure you’ll find him. If he was out, other folks pitched it and they were always very responsive.
Happy hunting, unless you already found something :^)
