    I sat next to a guy in Zocalo 4s Ranch last week that was openly (and quiet loudly) mentioning he was hoping for a loan mod, otherwise he would just let it go to the bank.

    I know tons of people working on them and those who have gotten them but none of whom would want to have their story told to the public.

    The only person I know who has received a loan mod was given one because a relative had fraudulently opened a HELOC on the home, withdrawn over $100K and fled the country. The lender hadn’t bothered to verify anything in the paperwork nor i.d. the signer, and the owner had no idea this had happened until the new mortgage amount showed up. I guess the lender preferred a principal writedown to a potential lawsuit in this instance.

    I don’t think they would be willing to talk about it.
