Being an admitted uber-bear, those still look over-priced. Some other units were selling in the $150K+ range in the late 90s, and I think we’ll see that again for condos.
Not sure what your situation is, but if you plan on living there “for life” the stairs might be an issue. Then you have the HOA issues…
Wait ’til $180K or less! ;)
I agree that ia absolutely overpriced as per that area and the year built. I don’t think it is worth of 150K at all even drop down

August 23, 2008 at 11:43 AM #260586PCinSDGuestThanks for the reality check. However, I think $150k is far-fetched. Here’s some 2/2 condos in the same complex for rent, going for $1895.00 and $1995.00 a month, respectively:
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/apa/805622727.html
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/apa/801145744.html
These would be similar to the 2/2 short sale currently listed at $335k. Finding a decent 2 bedroom condo that is close to downtown, close to the beaches, with a low HOA fee, attached garage, and large balcony in a decent neighborhood is not that easy. These are just some of the better deals I’ve seen in this price range.
I’d like to keep my future purchase capped at $300k. If I can get something I can enjoy for less, good for me. I’m 39, and this would not be a purchase that I would expect to grow old and die in.

August 23, 2008 at 12:38 PM #260631peterbParticipantI the “old days” we used to calculate a fair price at 100 times the monthly payment. That would put these at about $200K. But, in this deflating market, all bets are off as to how low it can go. I would not be surprised at all to see these at the $200K level at the end of 2008.
