For the ones claiming abortion to be a deciding factor, I am curious if that is the only thing keeping you from looking at Ron Paul? First my bias is that I am not a country-club pubbie, or a social conservative pubbie, but lean more to the libertarian “live and let live” type of conservative.

I agree with your position and do not agree with the standard GOP party line on abortion. However I have not cared enough about that one issue to make me vote Democrat. Thus in my mind if I otherwise agree with very little coming out of that party, it seems I can overlook that one issue. This is clearly a wedge issue that seems to drive a voter one way or the other.

I’ll admit, when I heard some of Ron Paul’s early debates, I thought he was a nutcase. But the more I’ve listened to the other candidates–on both sides–and the more I’ve heard some of Ron Paul’s ideas, the more I realize that he is one of the few candidates that aligns with my conservative small government, fiscally conservative views.

He’s a very intelligent man and, unlike many of the other candidates, actually understands the economy and markets and the damage that the Fed is doing to our country.
