Stewart is a comedian. I hate how he pretends to know about the stock market and politics. He’s witty and quick with words but knows nothing.
It’s easy to blow him off as a “comedian” but it says a lot when a “comedy” show asks more important questions than the “news” shows out there. It’s no wonder why the younger generations get their news from Stewart and Colbert rather than Blitzer, Williams, or Couric.
Stewart may “know nothing,” but at least he has the balls to ask the questions to rectify his know-nothingness.
Agreed. John Stewart may not “know” a lot about the details, but he’s got the big picture nailed down exactly right here.
I would, however, say that this is another pretty strong contrary indicator for the market. I’ve said over the years (among other things) that, “We’ll know we’re at the bottom when Mad Money is off the air.” Although this interview doesn’t suggest that the show’s getting cancelled, it’s a very public rebuke of the whole “stock investing as entertainment” meme. And Cramer so much as admitted that he should try to do a better job of making it less “silly” (that’s my word). That’s a pretty strong contrary indicator.

Apparently all it takes to be smarter than Wall Street big-wigs is common sense. Who’d a thunk it? Kramer got called out, he should also be indicted because he absolutely admitted to crimes in those excerpts Stewart showed, yet he’ll never even get looked at.T4L

March 13, 2009 at 2:09 PM #365366danthedartParticipantIf he knows the big picture, then he’s a cheap ratings whore. I think he’s admitted as much. He is a small small man for crucifying Cramer on his show. Cramer is an easy target because he’s in the public eye. Cramer has a TV show and an audience so destroying him will get Stewart ratings.
Cramer merely made the same exact mistake everyone else made. Cramer already apologized. There’s not much more you can do. Why call this one guy out? Why call out this one TV network?
Easy target. Big bully beating up on a small kid. That’s all this is. Journalism? You gotta be kidding me. Sensationalism maybe. Ppl like watching ppl get beat up. That’s all this is.
