With companies cutting costs and looking for cheaper facilities/land I think the area has potential to grow as a job center. It is one of the very few affordable SoCal locations with a desirable quality of life. There’s plenty of commercial/industrial land and class A office condos at firesale prices. We built up *quality* office space during the boom that is now dirt cheap.
One of my new neighbors is a director at a local engineering company and said that although they are hurting, they are hiring this year and looking to expand.
Let’s just make sure the ridiculous quarry doesn’t get built – it’s the wrong kind of economic development for the city.
(btw, I like this new delusional homeowner thing – I get to be NIMBYish and find silver linings in signs of a collapsing economy! I might be delusional but it beats the old bitter renter me from the last 3 years!) 😉
