Young people driving big SUV and trucks?? No, those liberals are driving there civics and cheap toyo lowest end pickups because they cant afford a real truck or Beemer. As more women are driving the bigger vans, etc, the stats are more likely overstating case for largest vehicles. How many 20 somethings do you know besides Paris crowd driving Escalades?
“Evidence is clear that when given the choice between making a mortgage payment or a car payment, the house wins out. The weak U.S. economy and a housing market in the dumps kept many folks from buying a new set of wheels last year. The average age of new-vehicle buyers ended the year at 48 years old; in January 2007 it was 43.”

The edmunds.com article on the 2005 fatalities ony discussed trucks and young males. Likely, there is no way for us on this board to control and factor in driver characteristics as a percentage of drivers of certain vehicles leading to more or less fatalities.
Thanks for the insightful comments, unlike the OP (from my perspective).
I guess I’ll just take my chances in my large American Sedan.
