I do this too. Works well, and ensures I don’t pay for materials twice (once when the contractor bills me, once when the supplier comes after me cuz the contractor didn’t pay him).

We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we’re very happy about the house. Mr. CAR has been exceptionally patient; he never wanted to be a bubble-sitter. The kids aren’t getting any younger, either…so it was time to bite the bullet.

One of the most stressful periods of my life. Of course it all happened concurrent with various family members dying of cancer. I do not wish that life experience on anyone – not even the contractor that put us through this.
