San Marcos schools are barely a notch above Escondido schools.
That’s a really meaningless statement. Escondido schools are polarized. There are okay schools (by my count, there are 5 elementaries & K-8’s with 850+ API scores, including charters), and there are really bad schools.
San Marcos schools are heading in that direction too.

Grew up in Esco. Know the area/surrounding areas well. Temecula reminds me of Escondido when I was young. Sadly, most of NC had/has no plan, is a mess that is full of crime, and no real plan for the future.
I’d be all over Temecula if it weren’t for the commute. Did it for 2 years until my LL lost his house and had to move into the rental. Now I’m back in a nice pocket in Esco in the hills, but am reminded what a dumb both Esco and SM is when I leave my sanctuary.
Oh, and I greatly miss FIOS. Maybe if Morgan Valley keeps dropping…
As a long time resident of Temecula, I like to remind those considering a move here that there are a lot of ‘roughnecks/rednecks’ (IMO) in and around Temecula.
If your used to living in RB for example, Temecula is a different world based on my experience.
