A bit melodramatic, eh?
The city’s budget has taken a hit like everywhere else, but they are still in the black with only modest cuts to services.
At this point it seems likely that the quarry will go in. Although I’m against the quarry, I really don’t think it will impact most residents much, if at all. Granite has put so much PR into this debate that, if it does cause any air quality problems, they are going to get hit hard with lawsuits.
The hospital situation is frustrating, but much of it does seem to be out of the city’s control. This isn’t exactly a disaster either — there are hospitals within 20 minutes of just about any location in Temecula.
I generally don’t like the City Council — their qualifications are sketchy, and it’s likely that most of them were on the take in some way with developers a few years back. This is not uncommon in many small cities. I must admit that so far the council/mayors have managed to run the city pretty well so far. It could be much worse.
