Neighborhoods Considering: Mequite, NV
Condo/House: House on the Golf Course
Price Range: waiting for them to be $170-270K
Size Range: 1600-2000sqft
Currently (Rent/Own): Rent
Shopping the Market?: Nope.July 8, 2007 at 11:42 AM #64638startingoutParticipantNeighborhoods Considering:
Riverside, in the UCR area
Moreno Valley, north of the 60 freeway
Redlands, south of the 10Condo House: House, but will start in a condo if necessary
Price Range: $250,000-300,000. Even in the Inland Empire, that won’t get you much right now.
Size Range: anything over 1,000, but most important is a backyard bigger than my armspan. I want room for my kids in the future to play, and for me to have a garden.
Currently: renting an apartment.
Shopping the Market?: Not really, more like monitoring the market, using Ziprealty. I won’t start seriously shopping until prices are somwhere near sane.

July 8, 2007 at 12:21 PM #64642AnonymousGuestNeighborhoods Considering: Carmel Mountain or thereabouts. Possibly even Southern Temecula
Condo/House: House preferred, might consider zero lot
Price Range: $350 – $450k with low property tax rate (maybe $250-$300 in Temecula)
Size Range: 1800-2400 sq ftCurrently (Rent/Own): I’m a 25 year resident of North Park, 10 year resident of Hillcrest, 2 year resident of Temecula. Moved to Austin and bought a new house in 2005 for the appreciation and ability to own. Am watching from a distance and enjoying life but miss my hometown. If the San Diego:Austin (suburb) price ratio gets to about 2:1, I would strongly consider returning.
Shopping the Market? Watching closely for fun. Have considered coming back and renting to be in a better position to buy but am reluctant to sit in a rental for years. Will probably just keep an eye on things and track a few neighborhoods that I know well and get more serious if prices do crash harder in a year or two.
