Yeah, we’re a nation of terrified pussies. We’ve been browbeaten into believing all manner of ills are going to strike at any moment and thus have traded our liberty for security (or the appearance of security).
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Benjamin Franklin
I used to shoot competitive trap and sporting clays in high school. I kept a Browning 12ga. over-and-under in my car, along with anywhere from 100 to 200 shells at any given time. The faculty were aware of this and it raised absolutely no issues and wasn’t treated any differently than my keeping my football helmet and pads in my car.
I cannot even begin to imagine the reaction this would incur now.

May 25, 2011 at 10:02 PM #698880KIBUParticipantI wonder if most people own guns because they just like guns rather than for real concerns of defense. They like to shoot, sport, showing up the guns, feeling powerful, or it’s a hobby kind of thing? That’s fine. Incidentally, others shoot people in one, two, three, sometimes more at a time. But that’s something else.
People can find reasons to keep doing anything they want a lot. Rationalize it, justify it and go ahead. Common sense people just see thru all those rationalizations.
