fake rental listing in 4S ranch: SFH – Piggington's Econo-Almanac

Peeps,

I have a rental in 4S ranch and currently I get $2975/month for a 3BR which includes electric power from solar panels which is worth about $150-$200/month.

When I rented the house, out in 2015 (two year lease), I had about 20 potential tenants express interest in a few days.

The lease is up in June of this year.

On Zillow, there is now another house close by listed for 152 days. I think it is a fake listing as it does not show the address and no landlord in their right mind would need 6 months to find a tenant as that area is very hot generally.

I’m curious if anyone has any way to find out if this listing is fake or not?

If so, any thoughts as to why a fake listing would be posted. I have my ideas, but would be interested in hearing from others. Or if I’m not thinking about this correctly, any insight is appreciated. I’ve just never needed more than a few days to lease where I’m active in 4S ranch, Escondido and San Marcos. I don’t think the market has changed.

I have seen ancient listings on zillow. They either scrape listings from other sites without removing them when rented, or else let people post but do not automatically expire.

I guess it depends on the sq. ft. of the 2 units but it looks like a very detailed listing to me. How many sq. ft. is the unit you are renting? Fake listings might be a way to make rents look lower, but don’t think that is the case here.

My unit is same size. Most likely it is just old.

But funny how Zillow just announced this which is too bad as it’s useful for listings
