Ok, maybe I just read it wrong, but it sounds like they just lost 23 Billion dollars in 1 quarter. To make up for it, they are gonna raise 12.5 Billion in new capital. That is still a nearly 2to1 loss to new capital gain ratio.
7.81B loss due to buisness
9.11B loss due to credit default swaps (unrealized?)
6.09B loss due to subprime morgages
Must not be too bad though, they raised the dividend and the stock is basically unchanged.
