“Mid Madra Blight”
I certainly agree with your assessment of that part of Madra. If you drive around the rest of the top of Del Cerro you observe remodels in progress ( real progress being made ), landscaping upgrades, and generally well kept houses. ( Other than the mystery remodel / default / teardown / disaster / ??? on Norman )
An area you would feel pround to live in. But driving up that mid section you get an entirely different impression. Fortunately the drive time thru that section is very short and because of the steepness not an area that one wants to walk along. This is what makes the $ 1.3M asking so ridiculous.

May 20, 2008 at 12:06 PM #208348poway_sellerParticipant“Mid Madra Blight”, MMB – thanks for helping me to coin this shameful area of a beautiful community.
What is even more striking, is that the sellers of the $1.3M pipe dream in the MMB, fail to even mention the amazing school district in their fancy flyer. What an oversight…. they were too focused on “upgrades” and “single level” (oh, single level once you get up the steep staircases).
On Elaine there are several remodels underway, all of which are making great progress and look really fantastic. (Elaine is top of Del Cerro Blvd and connects to Dwane).
The Norman Lane teardown/skeleton project. Does anyone have additional detail they can shed on this? Can anyone do some digging to find out more info. Permits expired recently, owners own a used car dealership I think, but I can’t find anything anywhere.
What about the big vacant lot on the west side of mid-Norman Lane?
It does seem however that there is quite a high remodel activity level in the Del Cerro View homes area… people are putting in huge decks, pools, major remodels, landscaping, and more. Actually, the highest that I have personally seen it in many years. On any given street there are several houses undergoing major work (good work, not MMB type work).
macmichael – you seem to have a pretty firm grip on the area, sounds like you live on the hill? do you have any other insights?

May 20, 2008 at 4:28 PM #208553AnonymousGuest5915 pending? wow…
Nine months on the market with no action other than price drops. Within two weeks of being listed with a new agent it’s in escrow.
Very curious to see what it goes for.
